Design for Film: Cheech & Chong in TRON
JULY 2009
I designed titles and vector graphics for this meeting of two great 20th century cultural hallmarks. Part of MSN / Mean Magazine's Cinemash series, this video pits Cheech and Chong against each other in an infinitely psychedelic, TRON-inspried dimension, cracking wise about the recession whilst racing lightbikes and tossing laser frisbees.
The creative intent behind this project was to present a visually delicious alternative to the sleek, believable FX of today's action cinema. Accordingly, my graphics drew upon fairly fanciful influences, including classic James Bond title sequences, art deco design, and kaleidoscopic patterns.
