Flyer: The Night Kitchen
APRIL 2009
Encompassing industrial, hardcore and electronic musics, Richard Devine presented the perfect opportunity for me to explore the DIY ethic (not to mention that he has a very memorable face). Lo-fi was the rule for this project; I wrote the performers' names out on my own hand, photographed them and upped the contrast. Seeking to combine 60s psychedelica with bleak punk iconography, I labored long and hard over the main face / logo image, and finally settled on its final sketchy incarnation.
To keep true to the aesthetic, the image was reproduced via xerox for promotions, making the final product as archaic and worn-looking as possible.
